The Fall Of The House Of Usher Summary: It was a dark, soundless autumn day, and the weather was foggy. Firstly, He was riding along when he found himself in front of the house of Usher. He felt a sense of darkness, depression, and iciness. However, He rode his horse to the edge of a black lake close to the home. That’s why That room was vast and high with long and narrow windows. The furniture was old and tattered, and it had an atmosphere of sadness.

Roderick Usher, who was on the sofa, greeted him warmly. He looked as pale as a corpse with large luminous eyes and delicate uncolored lips. His features exaggerated, and everything in him was different from what he had been before. He spoke about the sickness in his family, the one in which he had lost hope of finding a remedy.

He was a slave to a strange kind of terror. Ultimately, As he spoke, lady Madeleine passed slowly and disappeared mysteriously. Her disease consisted of apathy, body wasting, and deep sleep periods. “She gave into her illness”, – Said Roderick Usher – At Usher’s request, the man helped him in the arrangements for the burial. However, The body of the dead Madeleine was placed in a coffin and put inside a vault. After a few days of bitter grief, Roderick’s behavior changed. He was suffering from madness.

Therefore, When the man was sleeping, someone knocked on the door. It was Roderick Usher who entered carrying a lamp. “Have you not seen it?” – However, He said abruptly – “But wait! You shall!” He ran to one of the windows and opened it. The strength of the gust of wind entered. The clouds were so low and pressing upon the tower of the house. Then, he said: “You shall not see this!” (lol at my enunciation) The man closed the window quickly and read a story to calm the agitated Roderick. However, The story and its sounds were the same sounds produced by Madeline from her coffin.

The Fall of The House of Usher Quotes

“Not hear it? –yes, I hear it, and have heard it. Long –long –long –many minutes, many hours, many days, have I heard it –yet I dared not –oh, pity me, miserable wretch that I am! –I dared not –I dared not speak! We have put her living in the tomb!”

― Edgar Alan Poe, The Fall of The House of Usher Summary

Therefore, Mr. Usher placed a chair in front of the door, and then he sat, staying in it without making any move. They heard footsteps on the stairs. Then, the doors were thrown open by the wind. Finally, They saw Lady Madeline with blood on her clothes. She entered the room, so she ran towards Roderick and threw herself into his arms, bringing him to the floor, dead. The man ran terrified from that room and from that house. However, The storm was still in full force as he crossed the old bridge. He saw the walls breaking apart, and then the deep dark lake consumed everything.
