Divergent Book Summary

In a futuristic, dystopian Chicago, the community is built into five factions. Each faction places value only on a particular virtue, which its employees work to develop their lives ultimately. Abnegation is worth Selflessness, Amity, which is worth Harmony; Erudite is worth Knowing; Candor, which is worth Justice; and Dauntless, which is worth Bravery. Every child who turns sixteen has to join one faction from these by taking an aptitude test.

Beatrice Prior is a sixteen-year-old whose parents are from Abnegation. She has a brother named Caleb. Both give the aptitude test to figure out which faction they are most fit for. The test contains a simulation of a battle with a wild dog. Beatrice has qualities for three different sections, Abnegation, Erudite, and Dauntless, which signifies a Divergent. She is advised never to show anyone of her divergent results – it is dangerous to be Divergent. Beatrice chooses to join Dauntless. Caleb joins Erudite.

In Dauntless, Beatrice switches her name to Tris because she thinks it’ll let her begin again and become somebody else entirely. She becomes friends with Christina and Al, and Will. Three other Candor changes, Peter, Drew, and Molly, become her villains. Initiation into this courageous faction involves three stages, and that they are going to be ranked after all. Only the highest ten initiates will become Dauntless members; the remainder will fail out and become factionless.

Tris gains the honour of many during the beginning ritual of capturing the flag. She has the sense to escalate to the head of a Ferris wheel to see the other team’s position. Four gets together with her, and for the prime time, she realizes that she has feelings for him. She also gets Eric’s honour when she volunteers to require a penalty meant for Al – standing ahead of a victim while Four fires knives around her, nicking her ear.

Visiting Day comes, and Tris’s mother arrives to attend her in her new team. She recognizes a dubious amount regarding the Dauntless union, which drives Tris to accept that her mother may have ingeniously been Dauntless. She asks Tris to see Caleb in Erudite and asks him to investigate a simulation serum.

Tris uncovers that Abnegation brothers are now banned from accessing Erudite. Later that day, Al admits that he likes Tris as a lover, but she doesn’t feel the same. When they receive rankings for stage one, Tris is ranked sixth and isn’t cut. Peter, however, is unsatisfied with his second place. That night he stabs the primary place initiator, Edward, within the eye, forcing him to go away from initiation.

As stages two and three of initiation come, Tris begins to go into Dauntless’ own at last. She runs zip-lining below from the Hancock construction with the Dauntless-born initiates, shows advanced ability in panic simulations, and shifts closer to Four, who gradually begins to open up to her. But stress is mulling between two teams, Erudite and Abnegation, and Erudite continuously strikes the Abnegation department.

Initiation remains the foremost pressing thing to stress about, though. At the top of stage two, she receives a shock; she’s ranked favorite. Considering her a threat, Peter and Drew attack her with Al, who wants to be her friend. Four rescues her before they kill her. Al is destroyed with what he’s performed and sacrifices himself as a consequence.

At least Four shows Tris his true personality: Tobias Eaton, son of offensive Abnegation committee agent Marcus. Now, they officially begin a secret relationship. After a bad day in training, Tris leaves the Dauntless compound without telling anyone. She runs to Erudite to carry on her mother’s guidance to Caleb.

Divergent Book Summary Climax

She highlights a fight with Erudite director Jeanine Matthews, who Tris disbelieves cooperating with Dauntless to eliminate the Divergent. When she returns to Dauntless, Four warns Tris that Erudite plans a war against Abnegation and will use Dauntless to fight it.

Initiation day arrives, and Tris runs into her ultimate evaluation, a simulation including each one of her suspicions that she must overcome, one after another. She’s remarkably flourishing and ranks first, displaying an official member of Dauntless. However, she later realizes that the Dauntless leaders injected everyone with a simulation serum that day, calling it a tracking device within the thrill of the day. She knows they need to be lying. Erudite will use this serum as a simulation to urge Dauntless to fight Abnegation for them.

That twilight, everyone in Dauntless rises while a sleepwalking dazed except Tris; she will hold the simulation because she’s Divergent. Four can do the same, and they find each other in the masses while pretending to be sleepwalking just like the others. But when Eric attempts to “accidentally” shoot Four, the two go back and are taken to Erudite offices. Jeanine takes Four specific simulation testing and sends Tris, who was shot within the shoulder and thus of no use to her, executed.

The following day, Tris is taken to an outsized tank, almost like the one in her fear simulations, and drowned. Tris’s mother, Natalie, saves her just in the event and brings her to her father and brother. On the entrance to their hiding place, Mrs Prior is compelled to dedicate herself to ensure that Tris leaves.

Tris understands the only method to stop the slaughter is to prevent the simulation completely, so her father, brother, and Marcus Eaton head to the Dauntless command room to close it down. On the route, they’re free-crossed Peter, who barters with Tris, stating that if she takes him beside her, he’ll tell her the gratitude for getting to the room. Tris’s dad is fired and dies on the route. Tris is devastated, but she keeps going and eventually makes it to the room. None apart from a serum-controlled Tobias is controlling the simulation.

After hearing her voice, he can repel the simulation he’s under. Therefore, the two close up the PC and take the info to prevent the Dauntless from restarting it. Tris, Tobias, Caleb, Marcus, and Peter end up out of the capital, expecting to see security in the calm Amity compound.
